The DJ shows very minor overall shelf wear with some light creasing along the spine edges, the bottom right corners, and the front top edge plus there is some very slight overall rubbing. The words FIRST PUBLISHED and the year appear on the copyright page with no additional printings indicated. Enscribed to the original owner with a small graphic by the author in black ink on the title page. BH2 - A tight, clean, sound copy with minor overall shelf wear plus there is some very, very light bumping at the top right corners plus there is a patch (about 0.75"x2.5") of surface damage on the front board near the top center fron where the dust jacket was taped down to the boards plus there is some very, very light edge wear on the bottom board edges plus there are the usual library stamps, marks, pocket and label on the top outside paper edges, inside surface of the front board, front and back endpapers, and title page. plus the word "discard" has been written on the front dust jacket endflap and inside surface of the front board in large purple marker plus the book is very, very slightly shelf cocked plus there is some light soiling on the top outside paper edges. The dust jacket shows minor overall shelf wear plus there is some very, very light fading on the spine plus there is a closed tear (about 0.75") on the front bottom edge and another (about 0.25") on the back bottom edge plus there is the usual library label on the spine plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. A history of the Tower of London that centers around stories of some of the most famous prisoners there and the reasons for their imprisonment. Most are Tudor and Stuart figures including Sir thomas More, Anne Boleyn, Katheryn Howard, Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Thomas Overbury. There is also information about Thomas Blood's attempt to steal the Crown Jewels, the Monmouth rebellion, Judge Jefferies, and the escape of the 5th Earl of Nithsdale.
