CG5 - A tight, clean, sound copy in tan cloth covered boards with metallic red lettering on the spine with minor overall shelf wear with some tape staining on the outside surfaces of the front and back boards and front and back free endpapers from where the dust jacket was taped to the boards plus there are the usual library stamps, label, and pocket on the top and bottom outside paper edges, the title page, and the back free endpaper plus there is some very light soiling on the outside paper edges and the half title page plus the book is very, very slightly shelf cocked. The dust jacket shows very minor overall shelf wear with a small patch of very, very light rubbing on the spine near the bottom edge from a library label plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. A book about the social and cultural history of the South from antebellum days to the end of the New Deal. It is told through the correspondence of an American family extending over four generations. The letters depict the family's everday activities and illuminate the ties between husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, parents and children, mothers and daughters and as a result depict an entire society. By the author of "The Promised Land." Bibliography, indexed, 421p. SCW10651
