Mysterious Press New York, NY, U.S.A. 1993 Hard Cover Very Good, Very Good First Edition 0892964642 / 9780892964642 Ex-Library CH5 - A hard cover first edition withdrawn ex-library book in very good- condition. Stated first printing. A tight, clean, sound copy in gray paper covered boards quarter bound in black paper with gold lettering and graphics on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear plus there are the usual library stamps, labels, and pocket on the top and bottom outside paper edges, title page, next to last page, and back endpaper plus the dust jacket endflaps are glued down to the inside surfaces of the boards. The dust jacket shows no visible signs of wear plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve plus the endflaps are glued down to the inside surfaces of the boards. This is a title in the author's Mongo Mystery series. The main character is Dr. Robert Frederickson, aka "Mondo the Magnificient," a dwarf who also happens to also be a Black Belt martial arts expert. Mongo's brother finds one of his wife's old boyfriends back with the professed intent of "retaking his woman." Though he uses a phony reputation as a black sorcerer to threaten the couple, Mongo knows his claims are nothing to worry about but a series of hideous practical jokes and ugly pranks still wreck havock with their lives. Then one of the would-be suitor's old friends, a local riverkeeper and environmental cop is found dead in the Hudson hacked up by the propellers of an oil tanker. He had been investigating the activities of a major shipping company suspected of dumping residual oil into the river and then filling the empty tanks with fresh water to be sold to Middle Eastern governments.
