He knows that everyone has a destiny. His began in Sicily with his decision to emigrate to New York where he has become the master of his own fate as well as the fate of many others. As a brilliant business leader he has built an illegal empire through bribes and the aid of men who have needed help at one time or another or asked him to be the godfather of their children. These connections have allowed him to tap into a network that he can use whenever someone dares to threaten him, his success or his family. Don Corleone's power reaches from the highest government official Washington to the smallest crook of the New York underworld. With the other Sicilian families who have come to New York, he has been able to negotiate shares of the criminal marketplace so that there is no self-destructive infighting. That is until one of the families invites him to go into the drug business with them. He says no and so begins the struggle of the Corleone against the other Sicilian Mafiosi, a bloody massacre, the Family War. The story of Don Corleone, the powerful godfather, the mafia boss who only recognizes his own law is also the story of those who live under his rule because they are tied to his family forever by blood or friendship. There are his sons: the unruly Sonny who pays for the game of power with his life and the cool calculating Michael a murderer who keenly feels any wound to the family pride. There are others: those who are willing to commit any crime in order to earn the Godfather's sponsorship and retain his favor. And then there are the women: their fateful testiny has been to love one of the Corleone. Mario Puzo (1920-1999), born in New York of Italian descent, was a journalist and freelance writer. He published short stories and two novels before he achieved breakthrough global success with 'The Godfather'. 5.4"x8.3", 573 seiten (pages). Zufriedenheit garantiert (satisfaction guaranteed). FL0039 Price:
