BX3 - A trade paperback fascimile edition withdrawn ex-library book in good condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in black and white photo illustrated blue wraps with minor overall shelf wear with light edge wear around the covers' edges plus there is some some light surface chipping and rubbing along the spine edges plus there is some creasing along the left side of the front cover plus there is some light creasing on the front cover plus there is a closed tear (about 0.75") on the front cover at the top left corner plus there are 8 miss-bound pages (145 throught 152) where the printing overlaps two sheets on each page though the text is complete and intact plus there are 3 shallow very light surface tears across the spine. Illustrated with black and white photographs and reproductions plus there are about 6 dogeared pages plus there are the usual library marks, stamps, labels, and pocket on the top and bottom outside paper edges, the front endpaper, and the title page. This is a fascimile reproduction of a book originally published in 1908 about life in the Amana Colonies in Iowa at the turn of the century. The Amana Colonies were a utopian society established in Iowa's River Valley shortly before the Civil War by a group of German-speaking European settlers who belonged to the religious group known as the Community of True Inspiration.
