BZ2 - A hard cover withdrawn ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition with a dust jacket in very good+ condition. Stated first edition with a sequence of numbers with the "1" present and with no additional printings indicated. A tight, clean, sound copy in charcoal paper covered boards quarter bound in textured black paper with metallic red lettering on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear with some very light tape staining on the outside surfaces of the front and back boards from where the dust jacket endflaps were taped to the boards plus there is a small but heavy pen doodle on the center of the dedication page plus there are the usual library marks and stamps on the top outside paper edges and the front free endpaper. The dust jacket shows only very minor overall shelf wear plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. A book by a journalist noted for his coverage of the collapse of Yugoslavia and the war in Bosnia for the New York Times from 1990 to 1995. A reconstruction of how historical memory, propaganda, and suspicion lead to the cycle of civil war and violent retribution in Srebenica and the surrounding area culminating in the mass execution of about 7,000 muslim men, women, and children by Serbian hands in July 1995.
