Another major section of the film examines Boas' work studying and recording the culture of the American Indian tribes of the Northwest coast of America. This film is also notable in highlighting Boas' work in establishing race as a social construct with no basis in science, in opposition to the strongly supported eugenics movement in the United States in the 1910s and 1920s. B4 - An NTSC VHS color 50 minute ex-library video tape in good+ to very good- condition in a clamshell plastic case in very good condition with a paper sleeve in good condition. The tape is guaranteed to play without any problems. A documentary film about the war crimes trial of John Demjanjuk, a Ukrainian born Ivan Mykolaiovych Demianiuk. The accused was a retired Cleveland automechanic who was extradited from the United States to Israel to stand trial (criminal case 373/86) accused of being 'Ivan the Terrible', the supervisor of the Treblinka concentration camp. This trial is notable for becoming entangled in legal issues that were not related to the basic question of guilt or innocence. His conviction for crimes against humanity was later overturned by the Israeli Supreme Court in 1993 due to a finding of reasonable doubt because there was evidence suggesting that he had actually been a guard at camps besides the one at Treblinka, which would have made it impossible for him to have been 'Ivan the Terrible' after which he returned to the United States. In 2009 he was extradited to Germany to stand trial as an accessory to murder because of his service as a guard at the Nazi Sobibór death camp. The executive producers were Ludi Boeken, Harry Prins and Shmuel Shiloh. The producers were Katriel Schory And Gaby Rosenberg. It was co-produced by Jerusalem Capitol Studios and Belbo Films. 50 minutes. Satisfaction Guaranteed AV0014

B4 - An NTSC VHS color 27 minute, 30 second video tape in very good+ condition in a plastic clamshell case in very good+ condition with a black and white artwork paper sleeve in very good+ condition. The tape is guaranteed to play without any problems and shows very slight overall shelf wear. The documentary film on this video tape is a living history program in which Civil War re-enactors portray real soldiers of the time sharing their personal stories of what the Battle of Antietam was like. The Battle of Antietam aka the Battle of Sharpsburg was a Civil War battle fought near Sharpsburg, Maryland on September 17th, 1862. It is notable both as the single bloodiest day in American history with over 22,000 dead and as the first major battle of the American Civil War to be fought in Northern territory. The notable generals who participated in this battle include Robert E. Lee, George B. McClellan, Joseph Hooker, Ambrose Burnside and A.P. Hill. Though the battle was tactically inconclusive, generally attributed to McClellan's poor generalship in contrast to Lee's masterful generalship, it was significant enough of a victory to allow President Abraham Lincoln to make the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order declaring the emancipation of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. The number of slaves who were affected by this proclamation is estimated to be about 3.1 million out of 4 million total in the North and the South. This documentary was produced by MCPS Instructional Television Office of Global Access Technology and was made possible in part by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Montgomery County Commission on the Humanities. This video tape version of the documentary film was made available as a fundraising effort to benefit the Montgomery County Public Schools Television Foundation. This documentary aired extensively on Maryland Public Television (MPT) and the MCPS Cable TV channel. It won an Emmy Award for Cinematography from the Washington, D.C. chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences, one of nine awards earned by this documentary. Paula Rehr researched, wrote, directed and produced the program with the help of television production assistant Daniel Sokolowski and Mike Murdock of the Rockville, Maryland private television production company Millennium Productions. The film is narrated by Charles Askew. C. Wayne Thompson, a graphic artist in MCPS Electronic Graphics and Publishing Services, was a re-enactor in this film as well as the creator of the on-air graphics used. The historical consultants for the program's content were Chris Berry and Richard Wilson. 27 minutes, 30 seconds. Satisfaction Guaranteed AV0016
